About the consultation
We’re inviting disabled people and their whānau and support persons to have their say on our proposal to make sure basic cash services are available for everyone to access. Banks would need to provide a minimum level of services so you can:
- withdraw cash
- deposit cash
- exchange cash for smaller notes and coins
These services would be free and located close to where you live.
We have put together information in alternate formats to help you access information about the proposal and survey questions in a way that best meets your needs. You can view and download information in Easy Read, Large Print, Audio, Braille and New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL).
The consultation paper is a shorter, simplified version of the full consultation document. You can find all our consultation materials on the CitizenSpace website. These are not in alternate formats.
We want to make sure the proposal works for everyone, so it’s important we hear from you.
Public consultation is open until 31 July 2026.
