Panel discussion on Zoom after the TVNZ Leaders Debate

TVNZ Leaders Debate with NZSL interpreters will be available on CH200 on Thursday 12th October from 7pm-8pm, and then there will be a panel discussion from 8:00pm – 8:30pm via Zoom.

A live panel will break down the party leaders’ comments after the debate and this will be hosted by Jack Tame and feature on the panel: Paula Bennett (previous National Party Deputy Leader), Maiki Sherman (TVNZ Deputy Political Editor) and David Cunliffe (previous Labour Party Leader).

Deaf Aotearoa will be trailing the live interpretation of the panel discussion “in house” and this will not include the normal tech support of TVNZ or Kordia.

TVNZ Live Second and Final Debate with NZSL

TVNZ will host the second and final Leaders' Debate with Hipkins and Luxon airs just two days before polling day on October 12 at 7pm on TVNZ 1 and TVNZ+, led again by Jessica Mutch McKay.

Accessibility

Live captioning for Debates broadcast on TVNZ 1 and Election Night will be provided by Able, TVNZ's accessibility partner.

In partnership with Deaf Aotearoa, a New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) interpreted version of the Leaders Debate will be broadcast live on Channel 200.

This programme will offer Picture in Picture (PIP), with experienced interpreters shown as the primary image on screen alongside TVNZ 1's live coverage.

Signed Debates will be available on TVNZ+ after the broadcast has concluded. These debates will also be provided on Deaf Aotearoa's website, giving viewers' choice and control over how they participate.
