During these sessions, Starbucks baristas will share the stories behind some of their most popular coffee blends, with the chance for all participants to taste a selection of coffees and slices along the way.

You’ll also learn more about Starbucks as a business, including their long-standing commitment to sign language around the world, their local use of NZSL, and their partnership with Deaf Aotearoa, now in its second year.

If you are heading to the Lower Hutt event you will be joined by Dr Joe Murray, President of the World Federation of the Deaf.

This is a shared space for both d/Deaf and hearing people. The session will be fully accessible, with NZSL interpreters present.

As part of their partnership with Deaf Aotearoa, Starbucks will also be fundraising in-store from 4 – 10 May 2026 to support Deaf Aotearoa youth programmes.

Come along and enjoy good coffee, learn something new, and spend time together during NZSL Week.

Please note:
The experience starts at 12.30pm on the dot, so we recommend arriving from 12.15pm to get settled and ready to begin.

Please also be aware that Starbucks will only have coffee and slices as part of their taster experience. No other beverages will be available during these coffee taster experiences.

For any questions about the events please email Alanah via fundraising@deaf.org.nz
