Deaf Aotearoa is a nationwide not-for-profit organisation complying with PBE standards-RDR as appropriate for Tier 2 charities. We are looking for an Accountant to join our Business Support Team providing accounting and administration support to 13 locations throughout New Zealand. This is a varied and dynamic role that supports the wider team and has its finger on the pulse of the organisation.

We need a professional Accountant with great customer service and a can-do attitude. Clear communication skills (written and verbal), a willingness to learn and getting involved across all areas and levels of accounting is important.

Key Tasks

  • Monthly Management Accounting and Reporting
  • Fortnightly payroll for approximately 60 staff
  • Oversight of accounts payable and receivable
  • Annual Budgeting
  • Annual Financial Reporting in accordance with GAAP

Must have skills and experience

  • An accounting degree or commerce degree majoring in accounting from a recognised NZ tertiary institution. Registered with CAANZ, CPA or ACCA or any other recognised accounting body
  • Minimum three years of accounting experience
  • Working knowledge of current accountancy practices
  • Experience working in Xero and with DataPay
  • Proficient in using a variety of IT systems, applications and software
  • High attention to detail
  • Good time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Relationship building skills
  • A willingness to learn New Zealand Sign Language appropriate to the role
  • Legally entitled to work in New Zealand
