We are delighted to let you know there will be an NZSL-interpreted performance of the powerful award-winning play Prima Facie presented by Auckland Live and Plumb Theatre.
Your interpreter for this performance will be Kelly Hodgins.
Prima Facie written by Suzie Miller, recently won the 2023 Laurence Olivier Award for best new play, and this will be its New Zealand premiere season.

About the show
Prima Facie is a one-woman masterpiece that questions what is black and white in the eyes of justice.
Tessa Ensler is a successful criminal defence barrister addicted to the law. Making her way from underprivileged beginnings to reach the top of her game, she is ruthless, respected and knows precisely how to use the law to defend men facing sexual assault charges.
It is all power and success until a life-shattering event shakes Tessa’s belief in the law, placing her in the chair she has built her career pulling to pieces in the name of a fair trial.
Forcing her to confront a legal system engineered to fail her and the many survivors of sexual assault she herself has cross-examined.

The introductory notes will be at the same venue (Herald Theatre) at 6.30 pm.

The show is 90 minutes long with no interval break.

There are seats set aside for Deaf audience members wishing to attend the NZSL-interpreted performance. There will be a clear view of the interpreters from these seats, the interpreters will be on the stage with the performers.
