Executive Board Election
The term of the current Executive Board (EB) members ends at this year’s AGM, which means there will be an election for new EB members.
DANZ Members are encouraged to stand for election to the EB, to help Deaf Aotearoa grow, develop and strengthen over the next 3 years.
Remits
As the Incorporated Societies Act has changed, some changes must be made to the DANZ Constitution. The EB has been thinking about the changes for some time, and in April this year held 2 online consultation meetings, facilitated by governance expert Dr Jo Cribb, and asked members to tell us what you think needs to be changed, and why the change is needed. Thank you to those who attended these meetings or provided feedback on the current constitution – your feedback has been helpful in guiding the work we have done in drafting changes to the Constitution.
The EB is currently preparing a draft Constitution which will be sent to all members in the next few weeks to allow plenty of time for discussion leading into the AGM – the EB are keen to hear feedback from members about this draft and will be hosting meetings online for members to share their feedback before the EB finalises their proposed Constitution that will be presented to members to vote on at the AGM.
Members are also encouraged to submit their own proposed changes to the current Constitution. If you would like to submit a remit, please send it to our Executive Assistant, Tyler Johnston.
