Kia ora to Victoria Green, our incredible Facilitator in the Adults & Seniors service, featured in this month’s Staff Spotlight.
TRANSCRIPT:
Hello! My name is Victoria Green. I started working at Deaf Aotearoa’s Christchurch office in 2012, one year after the Christchurch earthquakes. I began as a full-time Community Relations Officer, working at the front desk, responding to enquiries and emails, setting up ACE (Adult Community Education) workshops, and supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing people in finding employment.
After some time, I left the role, but I returned in 2021 as a full-time Facilitator. My main focus was on Employment services, but I also supported the Hauora service, responded to enquiries, helped with various needs, and continued supporting ACE workshops. Eventually, I became the Lead for ACE workshops!
I also worked with First Signs, supporting families and babies by teaching NZSL. I later stepped away from First Signs to fully focus on the new Adults & Seniors service.
In my free time, I enjoy walking, reading, cooking, and spending time with my family and friends. But my absolute favourite thing to do is go on walks with my dog… and my cat! (Yes, really—see the video!)
People often ask, ‘How did that happen? Did you train the cat?’ Nope! The cat just decided to join us. When my dog was a puppy, we went for walks every morning and night—and the cat started tagging along. I love that part of my day. They both keep me company.
