Kia ora all, we will have some drop-in Zoom sessions again, for New Zealand Relay users, particularly those who use the Video Interpreting Service, which is affected by the changeover from Skype to Microsoft Teams.
This is an opportunity for anyone to pop in and ask questions, clarify anything, or share your experiences of using Microsoft Teams to date.
Same as previous sessions, these will be attended by myself and two of my colleagues from the NZ Relay leadership team, supported by external NZSL interpreters.
We will be on Zoom for 1 hour – you can come in, ask questions, and have discussions.

Kia ora all, with the upcoming closure of Skype, and its last day being 5 May 2025, we wanted to let you know that you are welcome to transition to Teams Free anytime from now onwards.
We have been doing lots of testing, including having testing done by some Deaf people from the community, and our NZSL interpreters have been using Teams (and not Skype) for a while already. This is why we are comfortable encouraging you to move over to Teams now.
We encourage people to start using Teams Free now, to help you become familiar with this software prior to Skype’s closure.
Transitioning now gives us the opportunity to provide you support with any issues you may experience on Teams, and you will still have Skype there as a back-up in the meantime (until it closes) to continue accessing NZ Relay’s NZSL interpreters.
Reminder – you can either use your same log-in information for Skype, on Teams – and your contacts (including NZ VIS pods) will transfer over. Or you can set up a new profile (and look for the NZ VIS pods and add them, links are here: https://lnkd.in/gJa2JZ3M).
