Whangarei and Northland Interpreting update

On Thursday 13th July the iSign Graduate Programme went to Whangarei and met the Deaf community. There was a great turn out and we loved meeting everyone! We also acknowledged Harri for her interpreting work serving the Northland Deaf community for many years, she is well loved.

iSign has committed to basing an interpreter at Deaf Aotearoa in Whangarei every Monday and Tuesday. We have 3 graduate interpreters Oliver, Xanthe and Nicky they will take turns rotating in Whangarei each of them being based there once every 3 weeks which is sustainable. We are encouraging the Northland Deaf community to make interpreter bookings on Mondays and Tuesdays while there is an interpreter in town.

There is funding to pay for interpreters, remember to ask for interpreters for your work meetings, medical appointments, WINZ, Dentist, Legal, job interviews etc. If you are not sure if your request is funded then just ask and we will check and advise you. We will work hard to find funding where we can. Just ask by texting 3359 (this is a free text number) emailing bookings@isign.co.nz, or calling 0800 934 683.
