Kia ora Deaf community, want to let you know that Lara Draper will be Acting CEO from Wednesday 17th to Monday 29th August.
This is because Lachlan Keating, Deaf Aotearoa CEO, will be going to Geneva, Switzerland. Lachlan has been asked by the DPO Coalition to support the delegation (group) of 5 disabled people who will be talking to the United Nations about the NZ government’s progress in following the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD). The disabled people will be presenting what the New Zealand government has done well, and what has not been done well for people with disabilities. Lachlan won’t be speaking at the UN, as his role is to support the people who will be speaking.
Lara will continue to do her usual GM – Adults & Seniors tasks and will take on some CEO tasks. She will be making a video to update you on some of the work the staff have been doing recently, and some of the work they plan to do soon.
We are proud and honoured that Lachlan has been asked to support DPO delegation, and we are pleased to see Lara step up and have opportunity to be Acting CEO while Lachlan is away
