Healthline New Zealand has launched a text service for Deaf and hearing-impaired people, and others who may have difficulty communicating verbally, to access information from the Healthline Disability Support Team.
This service text service will considerably improve people’s access to vaccine information, booking an appointment to get vaccinated or arranging transport to get vaccinated.
Until now, Deaf and hearing-impaired people and others who may have difficulty communicating verbally, have relied on email or a support person to communicate with the Healthline Disability Support Team.
People with Disabilities who wish to discuss vaccines, appointments or transportation options with Healthline, can now call 0800 28 29 26 and ‘press 2’, or use the free text service on 8988, or can also contact the team using email accessiblecovidvaccinations@whakarongorau.nz .
The Healthline Disability Support Team is available between 8 am and 8pm Monday to Friday.
Remember, if you have an emergency always call or text 111.
