Travel is still restricted under Alert Level 3. You can now travel regionally, but only when it is necessary. You can use your car for essential trips, like getting food or medicine or going to work.
Public transport will still be available. You can use it to travel to work or school, but be aware there will be limited capacity. You should sit 2 metres away from other people on public transport.
Under Level 3, you can travel if:
- • You are going to work, and cannot do your job from home
• You are moving to a new house
• You are accessing local services and businesses, like getting food or medicine
You are also allowed to travel to attend gatherings of up to 10 people for
- wedding services
- funerals and tangihanga
Other travel should not be undertaken. The risk of transmitting the disease is too high. This is not a time to take a holiday, travel between regions to celebrate birthdays or travel from one side of a city to the other to go to a supermarket when there is a suitable one in your local area.
Whenever you are outside the house, remember to:
- regularly disinfect surfaces
- wash and dry your hands
- cough into your elbow
- don’t touch your face
Stay at home if you’re sick, and report flu-like symptoms.
