Calendar

Check out the many events organised for and by the Deaf community. They include New Zealand Sign Language Week held annually in May and the New Zealand Deaf Short Film Festival which is held every two years. There are also plenty of local events organised throughout the year including taster sign language classes, Sign and Mingle nights, meetings, Deaf Awareness workshops and many more.

AUT Silent Camp Information

WHERE: CAMP BENTZON, KAWAU ISLAND (For more information CLICK HERE)

WHO: AUT Students doing interpreting training, and Certificate in NZSL and Deaf Studies. DEAF PEOPLE !!!!

COST: Deaf people $40, Hearing people $150

(This includes ferry to and from the island, food and accommodation. This DOES NOT include travel to and from Sandspit, where the ferry leaves on Friday. Please arrange your own transport.) AUT students and staff usually meet at the pub in Warkworth from about 3pm. There is NO dinner provided on the Friday night - please eat before you board the ferry!!!

D8BNZ will be having a North and South Island 8 Ball Pool Tournament to be held in Christchurch on Friday 4th June to Monday June Queen's birthday weekend 2010

Come and learn New Zealand’s newest official language and about the culture of Deaf people. We can offer you a paper that will open your eyes and mind to the language of the Deaf Community of New Zealand !

• NZ Sign Language and Deaf Studies 1A is a prerequisite or equivalent is required.
• You will be able to communicate at a simple practical level.
• You will learn about Deaf Culture and have an understanding of the characteristics of Deaf identity.

The DeafNation World Conference & Expo, the largest Deaf event in the world, will take place July 18-23, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada! Bringing many diverse exhibits from around the world, professional and cultural workshops, sporting activities, and activities will fill up the five days of the conference. Admission is FREE to all events! We would appreciate your passing on this information to anyone who knows or is interested in sign language.

 

DeafNation will be proud to partner with many sponsors and exhibitors for the chance to spread the word about new ideas, new dreams and new products to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing people of the world. If you know of other organizations and individuals who would be interested in attending the free conference, please spread the word.
