Taster classes

Our free taste of NZSL classes are the perfect way to kick start your learning journey.

Over 10,000 people have registered already for 500+ taster classes being held throughout the country in businesses, organisations, hospitals and community groups.

They have been so popular this year that unfortunately due to such high demand our private taster classes are now fully booked.

FREE public taster classes are still available! Go to our events calendar and search for the area of the country you live in. All you have to do is turn up on the day!

When you attend a taster class you’ll how to fingerspell the alphabet, sign greetings and some words and phrases commonly used everyday. The idea is to get you started on a lifelong journey of discovering this beautiful language.

The duration of the class is approximately 45 minutes  and is taught by – in most instances – a Deaf tutor giving you a chance to learn firsthand from a “native speaker” of NZSL.

We have been delighted to see many schools throughout the country taking up the opportunity to have a free School Champion visit their school during NZSL Week.

These visits are now fully booked.
