The Executive Board of Deaf Aotearoa made a complaint to the Human Rights Commission towards the end of 2009. The title of the complaint is Inadequate Access to New Zealand Sign Language Interpreters and is related to the lack of government regulation and/or oversight regarding NZSL Interpreters, directly resulting in instances where Deaf people's human rights are being breached.
