Volunteer with Deaf Aotearoa

Volunteer with Deaf Aotearoa and support us in making a lasting difference in the lives of Deaf people.

Deaf Aotearoa provides a unique experience for volunteers where they get to learn a new language – NZSL – and learn more about the Deaf culture and community.

Some of the ways our Volunteers help Deaf Aotearoa NZ and our community are:

  • Help with administration in our offices
  • Help with our resources library
  • Provide transport to appointments and meetings for our community members who are unable to drive themselves
  • Odd jobs / handyman work / grounds maintenance
  • During New Zealand Sign Language Week
  • Manning stalls in shopping malls
  • Teaching NZSL at taster classes
  • Set up and pack down of events and expos

What skills do you need?

Some previous experience in the area that you want to volunteer in would be an advantage but a “can do” attitude, flexibility and willingness to learn are most important.

If you would like to volunteer with Deaf Aotearoa please fill in the Volunteer form.
